Yichang,xihua March 10,China Three Gorges Corporation annouced to the media that through introduction, digestion,absorption,re-innovation of the Three Gorges Project China’s manufacturing level of large-scale hydropower generating units enterd the world’s advanced level

According to introduction,Three Gorges Corporation successfully implemented a china strategy that built a 700000 kilowatts hydroelectrici generating units which is largest in the world; the strategy enable china’s major hydropower equipment manufacturing industry to achieve 30 years of development by leaps and bounds by 7 years;China do not have the ability to make hydroelectric generating set more than 350000 kilowatts before.

Three Gorges Project preliminary intend to install 32 set of 70000 kilowatts generating units; There are 14 set generating untis in the Left Bank Power Station are aready in use since september 2005,at the same time, the 12 set generating units in Right Bank Power Station are also used for power generating since october 2008;The six new underground power station is at the step of electrical installation at present;In the manufacturing process of Left Bank generating units, Harbin Electrical Machinery Plant Co., Ltd., Dongfang Electrical Machinery Company Limited, respectively serve as sub-contractors for the VGS(consisting of Canada, GE,Siemens and other companies) and Alstom Group (consisting of French Alstom and the Swiss company ABB,etc) to accept the foreign technology transfer;The two sides agree to design and manufacture together.

Li Yongan,general manager of China Three Gorges Corporation ,said that there are 8 set generating units designed , maked and installed by ourselves in the Right Bank power generating units.Kazakhstan and Dongdian respectively assumed the task of designing and manufacturing of 4 set generating units;The share of domestic contract accounted for 2/3;the share of domestic manufacturers is more than 70%.The domestic generating units are running in good condition at present, The energy characteristics, stability and other features of the generating units have reached the same level of international.

In augest last year,the xiluodu and xiangjiaba hydroelectric power station located at the jinsha river made use of the results of the Three Gorges,and promoted the localization process of large-scale hydropower equipment further;26 generation units the two power station purchased are totally made in china.It set a new record in stand-alone capacity; The stand-alone capacity of 18 generating units in xihuodu power plant is 770000 kilowatts,and that of 8 generating units in xiangjiaba power station is 800000 kilowatts.
